What’s the good word? I came across this article on Lent, and while difficult to read, I do have to say that I agree with some of what is written. Have we really dumbed down the meaning of sacrifice? Is giving up TV or chocolate, REALLY a sacrifice? Read the following article, and let me know your thoughts. Happy Lent! I hope it’s a good journey for you and your faith. And that’s the good word for today.

I have to say the article is a bit rough…people are at different places. That being said, yes Lent is crazy because Christianity is crazy…willing sacrifice…choosing to serve… Blessings on your Lenten journey!

I would agree Janelle. It was rough reading it. But I like the fact that I was uncomfortable reading it. Ahh, yes, it seems Lent has arrived! Blessings to you too!

I thought the article nailed it.

Lent has become my favorite time of the church year.

I grew up in south Louisiana where its probably 90% Catholic (half of that probably non practicing?). Instead of sacrifice Lent was more of a reason to boil crawfish & drink beer. It wasn’t until joining Messiah that I really started to get what it was all about.

I love the Lenten season. I use it as a time to get real introspective about my faith~ its good for the soul.

    Cool article, Pastor!
