Lent is Crazy?

What’s the good word? I came across this article on Lent, and while difficult to read, I do have to say that I agree with some of what is written. Have we really dumbed down the meaning of sacrifice? Is giving up TV or chocolate, REALLY a sacrifice? Read the following article, and let me know your thoughts. Happy Lent! I hope it’s a good journey for you and your faith. And that’s the good word for today.

How Are You?

What’s the good word? Have you ever been asked or have asked the question, “How are you?” It’s a common question that is asked in almost every conversation, and we have gotten really good at answering that question, “I’m fine!” We say this no matter what the circumstance may be. But sometimes, deep down, we know that this isn’t true. We’re not fine. We’re not fine at all. We are…Hurting, Lonely, Confused, Frightened.

We’ve learned how to say one thing and mean another, and how to hide fear and deceit behind a fake smile.I recently read a blog post, and I apologize because I can’t remember who wrote it, but he said, “In the midst of these whirling emotions I’m often tempted to want to exchange friends for fans, relationships for respect, and intimacy for influence.” I recently read and have heard many times, “hurt people, hurt people”.  From the very moment humanity fell into sin, God’s plan and passion has been to redeem us and restore us to the life for which we are made. We must learn to allow Christ to transform our hurt and guilt or we’ll just transfer it to the people we love, the people who are around us, the people who, mostly likely, are hurt just like us! Be transformed in the redeeming love of Christ. Become a new creation. And that’s the good word for today!
